About This Tool

Work out your weighted class grade from assignment scores and their weights, or flip to the second mode to see exactly what you need on the final exam to reach your target overall grade.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a weighted grade calculated?

Each score is multiplied by its weight, the products are summed, and the total is divided by the sum of weights: Σ(grade × weight) ÷ Σweight.

What if my weights do not add to 100?

That is fine — the calculator divides by the actual total, so points, percentages, or credit hours all work as weights.

How is "score needed on the final" computed?

needed = (target − current × (1 − w)) ÷ w, where w is the final exam weight as a decimal. If the answer exceeds 100%, the target is mathematically out of reach.

Can I use letter grades?

Convert letters to your school's percentage scale first (e.g., A = 95). The math is the same afterwards.
